About Andrew

Andrew Burdon is a speculative fiction author from the UK. Born in Newcastle in the north of England, Andrew pursued higher education in English literature and psychology, art & design and graphic design, and studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer game design.

He has experience in a wide range of disciplines, working as a graphic designer, digital artist, office clerk, apprentice weaponsmith, microbiology technician, quality management liaison, and as a dementia specialist in elderly care. Somewhere in the middle of all this he grew a beard and got serious about his writing, which has been favourably reviewed:

[Andrew’s] prose is marvellously well-crafted. [He has] a sure command of the language…it’s on the cutting edge…I think [Andrew Burdon is] an excellent writer.
— John DeChancie, best-selling author of over two dozen books, including the SF&F cult-classic Skyway trilogy (Berkley/Ace Books 1983-86) and Castle Perilous series (Berkley/Ace Books 1988-94)

Andrew reads widely, enjoying modern literary and genre fiction, as well as many 19th and 20th century classics, and is no stranger to comics and graphic novels. Outside of literature his interests include tabletop gaming, roleplaying, astronomy, and anything science fiction. He loves gadgets and technology, but believes his arsenal of medieval weaponry key to surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Andrew currently lives in Nottingham. Samples of Andrew’s short fiction can be read for free in the Free Fiction section of this website.
